Question ???
Does swallowing leftovers can cancel fasting?
Answer:
In fasting, the oral cavity counts outside the body.
Therefore, gargling does not cancel fasting.
So that people who fast,
can perform ablution as when not fasting.
Derivatives from this,
food scraps between teeth status outside the body.
If that is possible to avoid but is swallowed intentionally
then the fast is canceled.
Thus the statement in the Syafiiyah and Hambali schools.
In the Encyclopaedia Fiqh is stated,
The Syafii'jyah and hambali Madhab set 2 conditions
for people who swallow leftovers when fasting,
do not cause fasting to be nullified
The first condition, accidentally swallowing it
Second, he can't avoid it when he swallows hard
Because this person has udzur and accidentally.
If he is able to avoid it, but he deliberately swallows,
then he breaks his fast. Although smaller than the hole.
Because it's not difficult for him to spit it out and avoid it.
(al-Mausu'ah al-Fiqhiyah, 26/64).
This is what the Sheikh Dr. Sholeh al-Fauzan.
His answer was related to leftovers for fasting people,
If someone who is fasting gets the rest
of his food between his teeth then he must remove
and clean it from his mouth.
The presence of food leftovers in the mouth
does not affect the validity of the fast,
unless he intentionally swallows it.
If he swallows it intentionally then it cancels his fast.
As for if he swallowed the rest of the food
because he did not know the law or
because he forgot it did not affect the validity of his fast ...
(Majmu 'Fatawa Shaykh Sholeh al-Fauzan, 2/401)
Allahu a'lam.
